McRae Investigated

Back in the good ol’ days of the ’50s through the ’80s, sexual abuse of male children by men in the military community was deemed to be “homosexuality”.

And as these crimes were seen as being “homosexual” in nature, both parties were seen as being homosexual.

This explains my treatment at the hands of Captain Terry Totzke from October of 1980 until April of 1983.

And this was nothing new. In 1961 a film was released in America for showing in schools. This film equated pedophilia and hebophilia with homosexuality. This film told the story of Jimmy, a young school boy who is enticed to have sex with an older man. After this is discovered, BOTH Jimmy and the older man are arrested by the police, and Jimmy is released on probation into the custody of his parents.

I kid you not:

And this was the American mindset.

Now, you might say that I lived on Canadian Forces Base as a child, not American military bases.

Didn’t matter.

The militaries in both Canada and the United States were in the midst of a “homo panic”. They were dead certain that “red commies” were just waiting to find the homosexuals in our militaries, and our governments, and blackmail them with kompromat to destroy democracy and capitalism.

Fuck, even the RCMP and the FBI were going full gang busters look in every nook and cranny for any gays or lesbians they could find.

In 1980 the CFSIU and the Chain of Command sure had their panties in a knot over “homosexuality”.

A confidential military document dated July 3, 1980, from the Canadian Forces Special Investigation Unit regarding a concluded investigation of a sexual offense involving Capt. McRae. The document includes references, findings, and a distribution list.

The military was calling male child sexual abuse
“homosexuality” which implied both parties were equally to blame.

Even Captain McRae’s confession to the Archdiocese of Edmonton describes the abuse as “homosexuality”.

A letter dated June 10, 1980, addressed to the Archbishop of Edmonton, from Father Angus McRae, confessing to committing indecent acts with minors and expressing regret.
